When the weather is finally nice, it’s no wonder why clients love outdoor photography. We really do live in a pretty area here in Bismarck! During our session planning, I’ll ask if you have any outdoor locations in mind for your session. If you have a place that’s meaningful to your family, I’m happy to check it out. If you don’t have a spot in mind, I have a list we can choose from.
During our consultation, I’ll ask you some questions about where you envision your portraits in your home and what style of portraits you’re going for. This will help me offer suggestions based on the final results. I have specific locations in mind that I share with my clients, but I’ll share my favorite suggestions below!

1. Greenhouses – You might be thinking… greenhouse? Yes, these are such beautiful locations. We can find lovely flowers and greens to make the perfect backdrop for your images. The best part is that we are covered and protected inside the greenhouse. You get the floral backdrop without having to worry about the weather.
2. Sandy Beach Along the River – For a summery, beachy look, I know just the place. Families and seniors love having their outdoor photography sessions taken here for a beach vibe.
3. Badland Hills – I could photograph the Badlands forever. This picturesque spot is totally unique to North Dakota and will create a beautiful backdrop for your family portrait session.
4. Open Fields – Fields make a wonderful backdrop for your portrait session. I know quite a few perfect little spots for your session. This creates a classic, summery look that will make you happy to look at during the rest of the year.
5. Small Lakes/Dams around Bismarck-Mandan – Does your family love the water? Let’s take your outdoor photos in front of a small lake or dam. We have plenty to choose from, and I can help you decide which one works best for your portraits.
6. Trail/Tree Tunnel – I have the perfect spot for a stunning tree tunnel backdrop. The greenery in the background will make your portraits pop on the walls of your home. This spot is very popular in the late summer and early fall when the fall foliage starts to show.

I want you to enjoy these portraits long after our session. They deserve a loving spot in your home! After the session, you’ll return to the studio for your image reveal and ordering appointment. We’ll get together and look through every one of your photos from your amazing session.
After looking through them all, you’ll select your favorites, and we can mock up some portrait artwork designs for you to view. After you approve the final design, I handle everything from there, from finalizing the design to ordering, delivering, and offering installation suggestions.
